How Shift Admins connect to their Agency Account

  • Connect your Shift site to an Agency account

  • Share opportunities with a Center site

  • Import volunteers into your Shift site

Overview

Connecting your Shift site to an existing Agency account helps you maintain visibility on a Center site and stay connected with your volunteer base. This connection allows you to share opportunities and import volunteers so you can continue managing engagement from one place.

Why Connect a Shift Site to an Agency Account?

The main reason to make this connection is to avoid losing access to the visibility the Center site provides. By importing volunteers from your agency to your Shift site, you can keep sharing your Shift site's Opportunities and stay connected with the volunteers you've worked with.

Connect a Shift Site to an Agency Account

Before You Begin

  • You have an active Agency account on a Center site

  • You have access to your Agency Manager email address

  • You have an active Shift site

  • You are an Admin on the Shift site

If you're unsure about your Agency status, contact your Site Manager.

How to Connect with a Center Site

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Click Site connections.

  3. Click Sign into your agency account.

  4. Enter your Agency Manager email and click Next.

  5. Select your Agency, enter your password, and click Next.

Your Agency and Shift site are now connected.

Share Opportunities

Share from an Opportunity

  1. Open the opportunity on your Shift site.

  2. Click Share this opportunity with [Center site].

  3. Toggle Share this opportunity with [Center site] to On.

  4. Click Submit.

You can choose to share opportunities individually or set them to share automatically.

Import Volunteers

Import Members from Your Agency

  1. Go to Settings > Site connections.

  2. Click Import volunteers from [Agency].

  3. Click Import members.

  4. (Optional) Toggle Send email invites to all imported members to On.

  5. Your import will begin.

Imported volunteers will appear in your Members list, where you can communicate, schedule, and track activity.

Limitations

There are some limitations when setting up a connection between your Shift site and your Agency account, including:

  • You can't import the Opportunities you created on the Center site. You will need to add new Opportunities to your Shift site so that you can get new responses and track hours.

  • You can't import Opportunity responses you received on the Center site. You will need to re-register volunteers—which is why we recommend importing them as members—to ensure their schedule is up to date or email your volunteers to let them know to sign up for Opportunities on your new Shift site.

  • You must have a registered Agency on a Volunteer Center or United Way site and be the assigned Agency Manager for that Agency.

    • Contact the Volunteer Center or United Way site's Site Manager if you're unsure about your Agency's status on that site.

  • You must be an Admin for the Shift site.
