Overview
Opportunities are how you share ways for volunteers to get involved. You can create, customize, and manage opportunities by adding details like time, location, capacity, and descriptions. Once published, volunteers can browse, sign up, and track their hours, while you can edit, duplicate, or delete opportunities as needed.
Adding Opportunities
Use the Quickstart Button
Select the Quickstart button.
Click New opportunity.
Enter the opportunity details (title, date, time, etc.).
Select More options to add additional details (optional).
Click Submit to publish the opportunity.
If the opportunity is marked Private, copy and share the link with volunteers directly.
Customizing Opportunities
Select More options when creating or editing an opportunity to personalize it.
Where the Color Applies
The color you pick for your opportunity appears in the Schedule area to differentiate your opportunities on the calendar.
The color also applies to the font for the title and time of that opportunity on the front end when volunteers view their calendars.
Duration
When you create an opportunity, you have a few options for setting up the duration. You can set it up to be a one-time opportunity, schedule it for multiple dates, create a repeating opportunity, etc.
One Time Opportunity
Set a specific date and start/end time
Toggle All day if needed
Example: A one-day event like a 5K or fundraiser
Repeating Opportunities
Set opportunities to repeat daily, weekly, monthly, or annually
Example: Weekly tutoring sessions or seasonal projects
Reporting Area
From there, the process is the same as if you had started with the Quickstart button.
More Options for Opportunities
You can personalize your opportunities with the More options button when creating them, like adding an image or opportunity description.

Best practice: Always click Submit to save changes.
Capacity
Use the Capacity area to set the number of volunteers needed for an opportunity.
Volunteers can register until capacity is reached
You can update capacity at any time
Location
Start typing an address and select it from the dropdown
Adds a clickable map pin for volunteers
Privacy
Set opportunities to Private to restrict visibility
Share the private link with specific volunteers
Tags
Add tags to organize and filter opportunities
Useful for searching, reporting, and communication
The Volunteer Perspective
Here is the volunteer's perspective when viewing your personalized opportunities:
Editing Opportunities
Go to Schedule.
Select the opportunity shift you want to edit.
Select the edit icon or select the three dots to open your options menu and click Edit.
Be sure to click Submit when editing the Title, Description, Location, or Privacy status.
When you're done editing, just click the X to close the Edit opportunity window.
Editing Specific Shift Details
If you need to edit specific shift details, like date and time or capacity, just click the date or capacity in the top right of the Edit opportunity window.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If the opportunity still displays as 'all-day' after the update, revisit the Edit Shifts section to confirm correct times are set.
Make sure your changes were saved properly and check the calendar view to verify the updates.
To avoid future discrepancies, always specify times clearly when creating or editing events.
Duplicating Opportunities
You can quickly copy an opportunity and then edit the date and time, privacy settings, and personalize as needed.
Go to the Schedule area.
Select the opportunity you want to clone.
Click the three dots and select Duplicate.
Personalize and update the information for that opportunity.
Click Submit when you're done!
Deleting Opportunities
You can delete any opportunity at any time
Best practice: Notify volunteers if they are registered before deleting
Deleting Repeating Opportunities
Choose to delete:
This shift only
This and future shifts
All shifts
Deleting One-Time Opportunities
Select the opportunity.
Click the three dots and select Delete.
Confirm deletion when prompted.
Important: Deleting an opportunity also deletes all associated data, including submitted hours.
