❖ Heads up! This article is intended for Shift Site Admins.

By the end of this article, you will be able to:

  • Create and publish new opportunities for volunteers

  • Customize opportunities with details like images, capacity, and location

  • Edit, duplicate, or delete opportunities as needed

Overview

Opportunities are how you share ways for volunteers to get involved. You can create, customize, and manage opportunities by adding details like time, location, capacity, and descriptions. Once published, volunteers can browse, sign up, and track their hours, while you can edit, duplicate, or delete opportunities as needed.

Adding Opportunities

Use the Quickstart Button

  1. Select the Quickstart button.

  2. Click New opportunity.

  3. Enter the opportunity details (title, date, time, etc.).

    • Use clear, engaging titles to attract volunteers.

  4. Select More options to add additional details (optional).

  5. Click Submit to publish the opportunity.

If the opportunity is marked Private, copy and share the link with volunteers directly.

Customizing Opportunities

Select More options when creating or editing an opportunity to personalize it.

Where the Color Applies

The color you pick for your opportunity appears in the Schedule area to differentiate your opportunities on the calendar.

The color also applies to the font for the title and time of that opportunity on the front end when volunteers view their calendars.

Duration

When you create an opportunity, you have a few options for setting up the duration. You can set it up to be a one-time opportunity, schedule it for multiple dates, create a repeating opportunity, etc.

One Time Opportunity

  • Set a specific date and start/end time

  • Toggle All day if needed

Example: A one-day event like a 5K or fundraiser

Repeating Opportunities

  • Set opportunities to repeat daily, weekly, monthly, or annually

Example: Weekly tutoring sessions or seasonal projects

Reporting Area

  1. Go to Reporting > Shifts.

  2. Click Add a new opportunity.

  3. Complete the setup as outlined above.

From there, the process is the same as if you had started with the Quickstart button.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  1. If the opportunity still displays as 'all-day' after the update, revisit the Edit Shifts section to confirm correct times are set.

  2. Make sure your changes were saved properly and check the calendar view to verify the updates.

  3. To avoid future discrepancies, always specify times clearly when creating or editing events.

  4. Personalize and update the information for that opportunity.

  5. Click Submit when you're done!

Deleting Opportunities

Best practice: Notify volunteers if they are registered before deleting

Deleting Repeating Opportunities

  • This and future shifts

  • All shifts
