โ– Heads up! This article is intended for agency managers.

By the end of this article, you will be able to:

  • Write clear, engaging Need titles and descriptions

  • Increase volunteer interest using incentives and impact statements

  • Improve visibility by updating and promoting your Needs

Write Like a Marketer

Avoid vague titles like Volunteers Needed or Help Wanted. Use specific, engaging titles that communicate the role and impact.

Examples:

  • Volunteer Crisis Counselors Needed โ€“ Help Make a Difference

  • Tutors Needed for English Literacy and Math Students

  • Playground Community Build at Seamster Park

Clear titles help your Needs stand out in search results and listings

Appeal to Volunteer Motivation

Use the Description field to explain why the Need matters.

Focus on:

  • The impact of volunteer contributions

  • How the role supports your mission

  • Relevant interests or skills

  • Outcomes volunteers help achieve

When possible, include any available incentives.

Highlight Volunteer Perks

If applicable, mention:

  • Swag (e.g., t-shirts or bags)

  • Food or refreshments

  • Recognition or achievement benchmarks

Providing this information can increase response rates and retention.

Keep Needs Updated

Volunteers are more likely to respond to Needs with:

  • Specific dates and times

  • Clear shift information

Use duration types such as:

  • Happens On

  • Recurring Shifts

  • Custom Shifts

Needs marked as Ongoing or Runs Until wonโ€™t automatically return to the top of the listings when new Needs are added.

Periodically updating your Need can improve visibility.

Promote Your Needs

Share your Needs across multiple channels:

  • Email campaigns

  • Newsletters

  • Social media

  • QR codes on flyers or print materials

Link directly to your Agency profile or specific Needs when possible.

Track Performance

Go to My Agency > Stats to review:

  • Volunteer responses

  • Hours logged

  • Engagement trends

Use this data to refine future Need postings. For additional guidance, contact your Site Manager.
