❖ Heads up! This article is intended for Agency Managers.

By the end of this article, you will be able to:

  • Deactivate a volunteer Need

  • Understand what happens when a Need becomes inactive

  • Review and reuse inactive Needs

Deactivate a Volunteer Need

If you no longer need a volunteer opportunity posted, you can deactivate it by changing its status from Active to Inactive.

When a Need is Inactive:

  • Volunteers cannot respond to it

  • Volunteers cannot submit hours for it

  • The Need no longer appears on the site

You may want to deactivate a Need if:

  • You plan to recreate it in the future

  • You want to remove it before volunteers respond

  • The opportunity was canceled

  • It was a one-time Need that will not be recreated

To reactivate a Need, you can contact your Site Manager to change the status back to Active, or you can clone the inactive Need.

Deactivating Needs

There are two ways to deactivate Needs from your Agency.

Option 1: Deactivate Multiple Needs

  1. Go to My Agency > Needs.

  2. Check the box in the ID column beside the Need(s) you want to deactivate.

    • You can select multiple Needs using this method.

  3. Click the trash can icon beside Actions.

  4. A confirmation pop-up appears.

    • Click Yes to confirm.

    • Click No to cancel.

Option 2: Deactivate a Single Need

  1. Go to My Agency > Needs.

  2. Select the Need you want to deactivate.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the Update Need page.

  4. Click Deactivate Need.

  5. A confirmation pop-up appears.

    • Click Yes to confirm.

    • Click No to cancel.

Once a Need is deactivated, it will no longer appear on the site, and volunteers will not be able to respond to it.

Review Inactive Needs

You can review your inactive Needs at any time.

  1. Go to My Agency > Needs.

  2. Click Show Inactive beside Actions on the Manage Needs page.

From there, you can review inactive Needs or clone a Need to create a new active version.
