Heads up! This article is only intended for Sustain Site Managers.

Do you want to share a training video as a Prerequisite step for volunteers to participate in an Opportunity? You can incorporate a video into a Prerequisite and ask volunteers a question they must answer that confirms they watched it as part of the process.

ℹ️ So you know: Some sites have language overrides. This means you may see Needs instead of Opportunities or Agencies instead of Programs.

Getting Started

If you want volunteers to watch a training video—or any required video, e.g., an About Us film, etc.—before they participate in Opportunities posted on your site, you can with a Prerequisite.

This can be a great way to have volunteers watch a video on safety regulations or any other important information you want to share before they can be considered qualified to participate. To get started:

  1. Go to Volunteerism > Prerequisites.

  2. Click Add New Prerequisite.

  3. Select the Type and fill out the Create Prerequisite page.

    • We recommend selecting the Dropdown option.

    • This lets you select Auto approve if the correct answer is selected and then select which answer is the correct one for them to choose from. When the volunteer selects the correct answer, they're automatically approved for that Prerequisite. This is great if you plan to ask them a question specific to the video—i.e., a question that can only be answered by watching the video first.

  4. Toggle the button beside Add Content Link to On.

  5. Copy and paste the URL for the video you're attaching to the Prerequisite in the Link URL field.

  6. You can either enter a call to action in the Link Text or the title of the video, e.g., Click here to watch the training video or Volunteering with Us.

  7. Click Create Prerequisite.

The Volunteer Perspective

Here's how this Prerequisite may appear to the volunteer, depending on how you set up the permission settings for it.
