❖ Heads up! This article is only intended for Site Managers with Activate: Disaster Dashboard enabled on their site. Not all sites have this module.

After the disaster passes, it's time to wrap things up. You can follow the steps in your disaster dashboard to wrap up after the disaster has passed.

Wrap Up After a Disaster in 3 Steps

Step 1: Notify Agency Managers

First, let your agency managers know that the disaster has passed and you're preparing to deactivate the disaster dashboard.

1. Go to your Disaster Dashboard.

2. Select the Disaster Wrap Up dropdown.

3. Under Step 1: Email your agencies, click Send a mass email to your agency managers.

4. This takes you to the email blast area where you can review the email and send it.

Step 2: Close Disaster Needs

Now it's time to close those disaster Needs so volunteers aren't trying to respond to them.

1. Go to your Disaster Dashboard.

2. Select the Disaster Wrap Up dropdown.

3. Under Step 2: Close down your disaster needs, click Manage Needs.

  • Now you can close those Needs to prevent new volunteer Need responses.

Step 3: Deactivate Disaster Dashboard

Once you've completed the other steps, deactivate your disaster dashboard! But don't worry, you'll still have access to your reports for that disaster.

1. Go to your Disaster Dashboard.

2. Select the Disaster Wrap Up dropdown.

3. Under Step 3: Turn off your disaster dashboard, click Deactivate Disaster Dashboard.

Optional Steps

Here are a few additional steps we recommend when deactivating your dashboard:

Optional Step 1: Download FEMA Report

Be sure to download your FEMA report so you can submit it for reimbursement, if applicable. Not sure what steps to take for reimbursement through FEMA? Visit fema.gov for more information!

1. Go to your Disaster Dashboard.

2. Click FEMA Report.

3. Configure the report by selecting a date range, agency, Need, and Initiative, then click Go.

4. Click Export PDF or Export Spreadsheet.

5. Be sure to keep this report for your records and to file for reimbursement from FEMA.

Optional Step 2: Send Out Thank You's to Participants

Finally, it's time to send thank you's to everyone that participated in the disaster relief effort.

  • This can include volunteers and agency managers who played a role in supporting your disaster relief efforts.

  • You can do this by sending a mass thank you via the email blast tool.
