❖ Heads up! This article is only intended for Site Managers.
Does your organization have a defined brand identity? If so, you can customize your site to align with your brand guidelines. This is essential for enhancing volunteer engagement and establishing the desired tone for your site. Even if you don't have a formal brand yet, you can easily personalize your site using the available features in your site settings.
While we don't provide branding and design services, we highly recommend using Canva to create custom banners, favicons, infographics, logos, and more.
ℹ️So you know: Some sites have language overrides in place. You may see Needs in place of Opportunities, Agencies in place of Programs, or Prerequisites in place of Qualifications.
Adding Colors to Your Site
Colors can help set the tone of your site. If your organization has a formal brand, we recommend checking with your marketing team to see if they have a list of approved hex codes. Otherwise, you can use the color selector tool to choose your primary and secondary colors.
The Primary Color is applied to most buttons—like Submit and Update—search icons, hyperlinks, and any calls-to-action
The Secondary Color is applied to side and top navigation items, tabs in the Edit Profile and Manage Program sections, tooltips, and icons that represent details within an Opportunity or event posting—excluding icons for Causes, Skills, or Interests
How to Add Colors
1. Go to Settings > Main Settings > Site Design.
2. Select your primary and secondary colors by clicking into the fields to open the color selector:
3. Click Update Settings to save your changes.
Adding Banners to Your Site
One of the first things a volunteer sees when they navigate to your site is the main banner. This is a great way to showcase your organization's brand, mission, or story.
Banner Requirements
Banners must be saved as a .jpg or .png and meet the necessary dimensions:
Desktop Banner: 1600 x 300px
Mobile Banner: 960 x 360px
How to Add a Banner
Go to Settings > Main Settings > Site Design > Banners and Icons.
Click Choose File for the banner you want to upload and select your file.
Click Update Settings to save your changes.
How to Make a Banner Interactive
You can make a banner interactive by adding a clickable URL to it. This is useful when you want visitors to click the banner and be taken to another page on or off your site.
Go to Settings > Main Settings > Site Design > Banners and Icons.
Beside Make Banner Clickable, click Yes.
Copy and paste a URL in the field beside Banner Link URL.
Click Update Settings to save your changes.
Adding a Favicon to Your Site
A favicon is a small icon displayed in the browser tab and bookmarks bar. It helps users identify your site and makes it easier to find among their favorites. To create a favicon, you can either design a custom icon or resize your existing logo.
Favicon Requirements
The favicon can be any size since it will be auto-adjusted to 15 x 15px after you upload it. The file must be a .jpg or .png.
How to Add a Favicon
Go to Settings > Main Settings > Site Design > Favicon.
Select Choose File and select the file you wish to upload.
Click Update Settings to save your changes.
Adding a Logo to Your Site
Your site logo appears in the in-app messaging inbox and on Volunteer Impact Pages (VIPs) if your site has those enabled. This does not change the logo in the alert inbox from the Site Manager dashboard, only the in-app messaging inbox.
Site Logo Requirements
Your site logo should be a .jpg or .png and 150 by 150px.
How to Add a Site Logo
Go to Settings > Main Settings > Site Design > Site Logo.
Select Choose File and select your file.
Click Update Settings to save your changes.
