❖ Heads up! This article is only intended for Site Managers.
Different types of hours can be submitted on your site. While volunteers are encouraged to submit their hours themselves, you may be asked to help.
The types of hours available depend on the site's setup. For example, you can enable or disable Individual and Plus-one Hours for your site from your Settings area. When you disable them, volunteers won't see those options when submitting hours.
ℹ️ So you know: Some sites have language overrides in place. This means you might see Needs in place of Opportunities, Agencies in place of Programs, or Prerequisites in place of Qualifications.
Types of Hours
Hours Type | Description |
Need/Opportunity | These are the hours volunteers submit for a Need or Opportunity they responded to and participated in.
|
Individual | These are hours a volunteer has performed on their own—not in response to a Need or Opportunity on your site. |
Anonymous | These are hours submitted on behalf of a volunteer who doesn't have an account on your site. |
Plus-one | These are hours volunteers can submit for a family member, friend, coworker, etc., who volunteered with them but doesn't have an account on your site. |

Individual Hours
Volunteers can submit individual hours to keep track of the hours performed outside of a Need or Opportunity response. Like submitting Need/Opportunity hours, these are accessed from the volunteer's dashboard by clicking Add Hours and filling in the applicable fields.
These aren't required to be verified but users may add a verification person for these hours. Please note, that if the volunteer adds a verification person, that individual does not receive a notification. This field is available in case you or another Site Manager want to contact that person to verify those hours.
Only the volunteers can submit individual hours for themselves. These hours are tracked on the site and displayed on the volunteer's resume.
When you have Allow Individual Volunteer Hours enabled in your Main Settings, then volunteers see the option to check No for Hours Type when submitting hours from their dashboard:
Anonymous & Plus-one Hours
Anonymous Hours are hours submitted on behalf of a volunteer who doesn't have an account on your site.
To submit anonymous hours for a volunteer:
Go to Volunteerism > Needs/Opportunities.
Select the Need or Opportunity from the table.
Click View Hours or scroll to the Volunteer Hours area.
Click Add Anonymous Hours.
Fill in the form and click Add Hours to finish.
Plus-one Hours are hours submitted on behalf of a volunteer who doesn't have an account on your site; however, these are used when a volunteer brings a family member, friend, co-worker, etc., with them to a Need or Opportunity. Plus-one hours are attached to the account of the volunteer that submit them.
