We know that sometimes, life happens, and our plans and schedules sometimes have to be moved around a bit. So, what can you do if a Need or Opportunity must be closed or removed? You can deactivate it! Deactivating a Need or Opportunity is simply a way to remove or end it. You can always come back and reactivate it later, if necessary.
If you want to stop new users from responding, consider adjusting the duration to Expired instead.
โน๏ธ So you know: Some sites have language overrides. This means you might see Needs instead of Opportunities, Agencies instead of Programs, or Prerequisites instead of Qualifications. You may also notice different menu options than those in the examples since every site is set up differently.
Getting Started
To deactivate a Need or Opportunity, you can set its status to Inactive or click the Deactivate button at the bottom of the Need or Opportunity. Once inactive or deactivated, volunteers won't be able to submit responses or hours to it. You can still track hours for deactivated Needs or Opportunities in your Reports.
1. Go to Volunteerism > Needs or Opportunities.
2. Click on the Need or Opportunity Title from the table.
3. Change its status from Active to Inactive.
4. Be sure to click Update Need or Opportunity to save your changes!
It might be a good idea to check the box beside Notify respondents of this update, especially if volunteers have responded to the Need or Opportunity.
You can also scroll to the bottom of the Update Need or Opportunity page and click the red Deactivate button.
Reviewing Inactive Needs or Opportunities
To review your inactive Needs or Opportunities:
1. Go to Volunteerism > Needs or Opportunities.
2. Select Inactive from the Status column dropdown.
From here, you can select an inactive Need or Opportunity to update it or reactivate it as necessary.
You can also review any Pending Needs or Opportunities or filter the list back to your Active Needs or Opportunities with this column.
