What is Volunteer Link?
Volunteer Link is a new platform that helps companies with teams across multiple states connect their employees to local organizations like yours!
It links your website to the company's Volunteer Link site, so you and your Agency Managers can send volunteer Needs directly to the employees actively looking to make a difference in their communities.
And here's the best part: company reps can also submit project requests directly to your team through Volunteer Link. These can be paid opportunities, giving you a new way to boost revenue while making an impact.
Why would companies use Volunteer Link?
Because it makes volunteering easy and accessible. Employees can quickly browse and respond to volunteer Needs in their area, all in one free, easy-to-use platform.
Why would I partner with a company using Volunteer Link?
When you share your Needs through Volunteer Link, you're opening the door to a larger group of purpose-driven corporate volunteers. These corporate volunteers get to see firsthand the impact your organization makes in the community.
How do companies get involved?
Companies use Volunteer Link to connect their employees to the Needs on your site and other sites in their area. A company contact can also request a specific volunteer opportunity, and the Site Manager will receive all the details to help coordinate the project.
How do we attract new companies using Volunteer Link?
Fortunately, you do not have to do any extra steps to attract companies. All Needs on your site will automatically show up on the local Volunteer Link platforms. You or your Agency Managers can manually opt out of sharing Needs with any of the Volunteer Links you are connected to.
Please note that some companies using Volunteer Link may have set up a few filters that will stop some of your Needs from appearing. For example, if the company has selected that all Agencies that share Needs must have a specific Cause, any Agency that doesn’t have that Cause will not have their Needs promoted on that Volunteer Link platform.
To attract more volunteer sign-ups from Volunteer Link users, we recommend creating great Needs and making sure your Agency profiles are up to date to give potential volunteers the most incentive to volunteer with your organization!
How are companies finding out about Volunteer Link?
Our team will be reaching out to companies that are looking into how to provide volunteer opportunities for their employees.
Can I choose which companies my Needs are promoted to?
At this stage, to keep things simple, it will be a yes or no to promote to employees who are in your community. In the future, we may create the ability to make more granular choices.
What if there aren't a lot of companies that use corporate volunteerism in our area?
Will we, as Site Managers on a Get Connected platform, be notified if our Needs are added to a Volunteer Link site?
No, you will not be notified each time your platform’s Needs are shared. All Needs are automatically shared unless:
You or the Agency Manager opts out of sharing a Need.
The Volunteer Link platform has chosen to filter out some of the Needs from your site based on their own criteria.
What will I receive when a company requests a project?
You will get details about the project, like the main goal of the project, when and where it is happening, the number of employee volunteers needed, and budget details. Here is what the form looks like when filled out by a company.
I already have a relationship with companies in my area, will this be a conflict?
Not at all! This should add value to both you and the companies in your community. For the companies that purchase Volunteer Link, you get to coordinate and post once, and they get the reporting they need without you having to make anything specific for them. For the companies you work with that don’t purchase Volunteer Link, you can continue just as you have been.
Do we, as Site Managers on a Get Connected platform, need to create a Volunteer Link for our corporate partners?
No, your corporate partners can create their own Volunteer Link portal. However, if you are managing volunteerism for their entire organization throughout the country, you could run their Volunteer Link for them as a fee-for-service.
How do Agency Managers get involved?
Each time an Agency creates a new Need, they can promote the Need via the Volunteer Link. They can also choose not to promote their Needs by selecting where they want their Needs to be shared.
Will Agency Managers need to post their Need on multiple platforms or multiple times?
No, Agencies can post their Needs once, and they will show up on Volunteer Link for employee volunteers to find! Agencies can also block any Need from being shared on Volunteer Link.
What information can I share with my Agency Managers right now?
You can share this FAQ resource with them.
What does it cost?
Nothing, it is free!
What training is available?
Training resources are on the way! We're adding easy-to-follow how-to articles and videos soon so your team feels confident and ready to roll.
Which Get Connected products is Volunteer Link compatible with?
All Get Connected products can connect with Volunteer Link. However, connecting to Volunteer Link may not make sense for everyone. Only organizations that want a wide net of different volunteers to find their Needs should participate.
What is global profile?
Global profile is not a specific part of Volunteer Link, but it is another exciting change that will make volunteering easier for everyone! Global profile means that volunteers will be able to log in to multiple sites using the same account. They will no longer need to create multiple accounts for multiple sites! This works for sites using single sign on (SSO) as well.
When we implement global profile, volunteers will get a quick message the next time they log in telling them about the update.
