By the end of this article, you will be able to:
- Create and customize Spotlights to highlight content for volunteers 
- Reorder Spotlights on your dashboard for maximum visibility 
- Add internal or external links and navigation buttons for easy access 
What Are Spotlights?
Spotlights let you highlight key content and drive volunteer engagement from the moment they log in. Use them to:
- Share important links 
- Promote upcoming Opportunities 
- Feature-specific Programs 
Only the first three Spotlights appear on the volunteer dashboard:
- First = Banner 
- Second and Third = Cards 
- All others = Hidden unless Show in Navigation is enabled 
Create a Spotlight
- Go to Settings > Spotlights. 
- Click Add Spotlight. 
- Fill out the fields. 
- Click Submit Spotlight to save. 
Key Fields

Reorder Spotlights
Only the first three Spotlights appear on the volunteer dashboard:
To reorder:
- Go to Settings > Spotlights 
- On the Manage Spotlights page, drag and drop using the hamburger icon (☰) 
Add Links to a Spotlight
To make a Spotlight clickable:
Use Your Internal Links with Spotlights
To link to a Custom Page:
To link to a Program:
- Go to Volunteerism > Programs 
- Click the Program name 
- Copy the URL from Additional Options > Customize Link 
To link to an Opportunity:
- Go to Volunteerism > Opportunities 
- Click the Opportunity title 
- Copy the URL from the Opportunity Link field on the right 
Show in Volunteer Navigation
To add a Spotlight as a navigation button:
- Edit the Spotlight 
- Set Show in Navigation to Show in Navigation 
- Enter a Navigation Title 
- Click Submit Spotlight 
To remove the button later, set Show in Navigation to Disabled.

- Feature your most important Opportunity as a banner 
- Share links to training materials, policies, or resources as cards 
- Add a permanent navigation button for “Contact Us,” “FAQs,” or “Volunteer Handbook” 
FAQs
Q. How many Spotlights can I have?
A. You can create as many as you like, but only the first three will display on the dashboard. Others can still be shown in navigation.
Q. Can I schedule Spotlights to appear at a certain time?
A. No, Spotlights must be manually enabled, edited, or reordered when you want to change what appears.
Q. Can I use HTML in the title or subtitle fields?
A. No, HTML isn’t supported in Spotlight text fields—stick to plain text for consistent display.
