A guide for Amplify Site Managers about Spotlights

❖ Heads up! This article is only intended for Amplify Site Managers.

Spotlights let you highlight key content and drive volunteer engagement from the moment they log in. Use them to share important links, promote upcoming Opportunities, or feature specific Programs.

Create a Spotlight

  1. Go to Settings > Spotlights.

  2. Click Add Spotlight.

  3. Fill out the fields.

  4. Click Submit Spotlight to save.

Key Fields

Field

Description

Icon

Appears in the banner, card, and navigation button

Color

Background color of the banner/card

Text Color

Color of the title and subtitle text

Title

Main text displayed on the Spotlight

Sub-title

Additional context below the title (255 characters max)

Target URL

Optional link to another page (internal or external)

Link Text

Required if you're using a URL (e.g., Learn More, Sign Up)

Show in Navigation

Adds a button to the volunteer navigation menu

Navigation Title

Label for the navigation button

Reorder Spotlights

Only the first three Spotlights appear on the volunteer dashboard:

  • First = Banner

  • Second and Third = Cards

  • Others = Hidden unless Show in Navigation is enabled

To reorder:

  1. Go to Settings > Spotlights

  2. On the Manage Spotlights page, drag and drop using the hamburger icon (☰)

Add Links to a Spotlight

To make a Spotlight clickable:

  1. Click the Spotlight you want to edit

  2. Paste the Target URL

  3. Add Link Text

  4. Click Submit Spotlight

Use Your Internal Links with Spotlights

To link to a Custom Page:

  1. Go to Content > Custom Pages

  2. Click the page name

  3. Copy the URL from the Page Name field

To link to a Program:

  1. Go to Volunteerism > Programs

  2. Click the Program name

  3. Copy the URL from Additional Options > Customize Link

To link to an Opportunity:

  1. Go to Volunteerism > Opportunities

  2. Click the Opportunity title

  3. Copy the URL from the Opportunity Link field on the right

Show in Volunteer Navigation

To add a Spotlight as a navigation button:

  1. Edit the Spotlight

  2. Set Show in Navigation to Show in Navigation

  3. Enter a Navigation Title

  4. Click Submit Spotlight

To remove the button later, set Show in Navigation to Disabled.

Examples

  • Feature your most important Opportunity as a banner

  • Share links to training materials, policies, or resources as cards

  • Add a permanent navigation button for “Contact Us,” “FAQs,” or “Volunteer Handbook”
