❖ Heads up! This article is only intended for Site Managers managing site connections with Galaxy Link.

By the end of this article, you will be able to:

  • Explain how the Open Remote option works

  • Understand the volunteer experience when using Open Remote

  • Describe how users complete actions on originating sites

Overview

The Open Remote option in Galaxy Link allows volunteers to view and respond to shared Needs or Opportunities on the originating site.

Instead of completing actions on your site, volunteers are redirected to the site where the Need or Opportunity was created.

How Open Remote Works

When a Need or Opportunity is shared between sites:

  1. A volunteer clicks View Details on the shared item.

  2. They are redirected to the originating site.

  3. On that site, the volunteer:

    • Views full details

    • Completes their response

Volunteer Experience

When interacting with shared content:

  • Users are prompted to confirm they want to leave your site.

  • After confirming, they are redirected to the originating site.

To complete their response:

  • The volunteer must log in or create an account on the originating site.

Key Considerations

  • Actions (like responding to a Need or Opportunity) are completed on the originating site.

  • User accounts are not shared between sites.

  • Volunteers may need to create a new account if they don’t already have one.

FAQ

Do volunteers complete actions on my site?
A. No. All actions are completed on the originating site.

Do users need a separate account?
A. Yes. Volunteers must log in or create an account on the originating site.

Why am I being redirected to another site?
A. The Open Remote option directs you to the site where the Need or Opportunity was originally created.
