Important: Global Profile becomes available to some users on December 16, 2025, and will reach all accounts in January 2026. You will receive an announcement on your Site Manager dashboard when the change is live on your platform.

By the end of this article, Site Managers will:

  • Understand what Global Profile is and how it benefits volunteers

  • Know what volunteers can expect when logging in

  • Learn how to communicate Global Profile updates to volunteers using a prebuilt email template

What is Global Profile

Global Profile provides each volunteer with a single login for all their accounts. This will make logging in easier for volunteers who are active across multiple sites.

What This Means for Volunteers

Current volunteers have a new login

Current volunteers will notice a new look for their login page. When a current volunteer logs in through Global Profile on a new site first time, they will be asked to verify their email address. They will also be asked to reset their passwords.

New volunteers won’t notice any changes; they'll set up an account and use Global Profile to log in and access all the sites they've registered on with that email.

Volunteers must have a real email address

Fake email accounts, like those that end with @example.com or @test.com, cannot be used by volunteers as a way to sign in and manage their account. This is because all email addresses need to be verified. Because fake email accounts do not have a real inbox to receive emails, a fake email address cannot be verified.

However, fake email addresses can still be created and managed by a Site Manager to keep accurate reporting for volunteers who do not have an email address. Although the volunteer won’t be able to log in or make changes, the Site Manager can manage everything for them, including signing them up for Opportunities and recording their hours.

Easy switching between sites

Volunteers who are a member of multiple sites, like students who are a member of a single cause nonprofit and a member of their university's site, will have fewer clicks to get between sites.

New profile, same information

Volunteers will have access to their Global Profile, a new page that shows their total engagement across all their connected platforms. This is also where volunteers will go to update their password. This is what the new Global Profile looks like.

Volunteers can access their Global Profile by logging in to any platform they are a part of, going to their Edit Profile page, and clicking Update My Account.

Site-specific information is still available

In addition to the Global Profile, volunteers can view and edit their profile for each specific site they are a part of in their Edit Profile page. The Edit Profile page will continue to have:

  • Email preferences

  • User registration questions

  • Track information (for Amplify sites only)

  • The ability to manage account information for that specific platform

Privacy is still a priority

Your private information, like your name and email address, will only be visible to the organizations that you sign up to work with. \Get Connected continues to comply with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the strictest data privacy regulation currently in place, as well as Canada’s Protection of Personal Information and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What This Means for Site Managers

Your data stays the same

All data you have for your volunteers will remain the same. This includes information about volunteer activity, profile information, and answers to your User Registration or Tracks questions.

Galaxy Link (aka Site Connections) will not be affected

If you are sharing data with another site via the Galaxy Link, your data or information will not change. The volunteer experience will not be affected.

Changes to "Assume User" and password resets

Although you will still be able to assume a volunteer's profile by clicking Assume User on an individual's profile, you will not be able to change their password, email address, or profile picture. This is because that information is now stored in their Global Profile, which can only be accessed by the volunteer.

However, you can trigger the reset password email to any volunteer on their site from their profile.

Changes to User Profiles and Merging

Site Managers will now see a contact card in the user profile with the user's name, email, and phone number (if provided). Site Managers will not be able to edit the user's name, email, phone number, or password.

Site Managers will also not be able to merge user accounts.

Announcing Global Profile to Users

Watch this video to see how to send an Email Blast to everyone on your site.

In the video, notice how we don't edit the User Filter. This ensures that the Email Blast is sent to everyone. However, if you want to send the Email Blast to specific groups of people, here are some common filters you may apply:

Agency Managers

Volunteers who logged in at least once in the last year
