About Third-Party Background Check Providers
While we’re happy to connect you with our third-party background check providers, we understand that you might already have an established relationship with another background check provider. If so, that’s totally up to you—you can continue working with them.
To make this seamless, you can set up special Qualifications and stick with the provider you trust. We’re here to guide you every step of the way and help you do this in the best way possible.
Working with Third-Party Providers
You can set up Qualifications that require manual review and approval before volunteers can respond to a Need. These Qualifications prevent volunteers from responding until you've used your third-party system to verify who is approved and who isn't.
Once you've reviewed the results of those background checks, return to Qualifications > Approval to update each volunteer’s status.
You have a couple of configuration options:
File Upload Qualification Type: Use this if you want volunteers to submit a document or certificate when completing the Qualification.
Blank or Selected Answer: Choose this option if you don’t need volunteers to upload a document when responding.
Most third-party background check Qualifications will also require a link to the provider. You can add this using the Add Content Link option, which is available for all Qualification types, including File Upload, Radio Button, and more.
How to Set Up a Third-Party Background Check Qualification
When setting up a third-party background check, you can use any Qualification type. In this example, the Qualification is set up as a File Upload type, which requires volunteers to upload documentation to complete the Qualification.
Common documentation includes:
A screenshot confirming completion of the background check with the third-party provider
A certificate
Additional required documents, such as licenses, driver’s licenses, or completed forms
This setup helps streamline your process while keeping everything organized and efficient.
Here is one suggested approach for setting up your Qualification for background checks:
How to Add a Content Link
Most third-party background check Qualifications require a content link. To add one:
Toggle Add Content Link to On.
Copy the link to your third-party background check provider and paste it into the Link URL field.
Enter descriptive text in the Link Text field.
Examples include:
Click here to complete your background check
123 Background Checker
This creates a clickable link that directs volunteers to your third-party provider.
The Volunteer Perspective
With the example setup above, volunteers will see the Qualification and content link when completing their requirements, guiding them to the third-party provider and clearly indicating what is needed to move forward.
