Overview
Waivers play a key role in confirming that volunteers are ready for the Opportunities they sign up for. They also help protect your organization and volunteers by reducing liability.
How Waivers Work for Volunteers
When a waiver is attached to a Prerequisite, volunteers must complete it before they can fully respond to an Opportunity.
Adults and minors are guided to the correct waiver automatically
Date of birth determines which waiver is shown
Parent or guardian signatures are collected when required
Signing a Waiver as an Adult
Here’s what an adult volunteer experiences:
Select Respond on an Opportunity.
The Submit Prerequisites screen opens.
Select Click to sign next to the waiver.
If prompted, enter a date of birth and select Submit Date of Birth.
Volunteers may choose to save their birthdate to their profile.
Review the waiver and select Continue.
Complete all required signature fields and select Complete Signing.
What happens next:
If auto-approval is enabled, the Prerequisite is marked Qualified.
If manual approval is required, the status shows Pending until reviewed.
The volunteer is returned to the Submit Prerequisites screen to complete any remaining items.
Signing a Waiver as a Minor
For volunteers under 18, a parent or guardian may need to co-sign the waiver.
What to know:
Parents or guardians do not need an account
All signatures are completed electronically through email links
Steps for minors:
Select Respond on an Opportunity.
Open the waiver from the Submit Prerequisites screen.
Enter date of birth if prompted.
Provide required parent or guardian name and email address.
Review the waiver and select Continue.
Complete required signature fields and select Complete Signing.
After the minor signs:
An automated email is sent to the parent or guardian
The email includes a secure link to review and sign the waiver
Steps for parents or guardians:
Open the email titled “Please Sign This Waiver For .”
Select the link and choose Continue.
Review, sign, and date the waiver.
Select Complete Signing and confirm.
Once complete, both the volunteer and organization receive confirmation.
Resending a Minor Waiver Email
If a parent or guardian didn’t receive the email, volunteers can resend it.
Open the volunteer profile.
Select Prerequisites.
Locate the waiver and select Resend Email.
Update parent or guardian details if needed.
Select Submit Information to resend.
Tip: Ask parents or guardians to check their spam or junk folder.
