How Amplify Site Managers can prepare their site for Volunteer Link

Updated over a month ago

Heads up! This article is only intended for Amplify Site Managers who are connecting with Volunteer Link.

By the end of this article, you will be able to:

  • Prepare your Amplify site for Volunteer Link volunteers

  • Review and optimize your Opportunities page for better visibility

  • Communicate clearly with Program Managers about Volunteer Link readiness

Initial Preparation (One-Time Setup)

Before Volunteer Link activity increases, take some time to do a focused readiness check.

Start with Your Opportunities Page

Go to Volunteerism > Opportunities and review what is currently public and active.

Check for:

  • Clear, descriptive Opportunity titles

    • (Avoid vague titles like “Volunteer Needed”, be specific!)

  • Accurate descriptions that explain what volunteers will actually do

  • Correct dates, times, and locations

  • Clear requirements (age, skills, background checks, etc.)

  • Whether the Opportunity still makes sense for new volunteers

Ask yourself:

  • Would a first-time corporate volunteer understand this Opportunity?

  • Would I feel confident sharing this Opportunity with a company partner?

If something looks outdated or confusing, update it now.

Prioritize What Corporate Volunteers See First

Corporate volunteers browsing Volunteer Link will mostly see your public, active Opportunities.

Give extra attention to:

  • Opportunities that are flexible or ongoing

  • Opportunities tied to Collective Impact Days (if applicable)

  • High-visibility or high-impact Opportunities for your organization

If an Opportunity hasn’t been updated in a while, consider:

  • Refreshing the description, or

  • Archiving it if it’s no longer accurate

This helps:

  • Reduce confusion for new volunteers

  • Improve your organization’s reputation on Volunteer Link

  • Increase the likelihood of strong volunteer matches

Email Your Program Managers (recommended)

Proactive communication helps ensure consistent quality across your site — and saves you cleanup later.

Let them know:

  • Volunteer Link may bring new corporate volunteers to their Opportunities

  • Clear, up-to-date Opportunities will help them attract better volunteers

  • They can hide Opportunities from Volunteer Link if they prefer not to participate

Subject: Preparing your Opportunities for Volunteer Link

Hi {{FirstName}},

Volunteer Link will soon make our public Opportunities visible to corporate volunteers across the country. This could bring new interest and new volunteers to your Programs.

To get ready, please take a few minutes to review your Opportunities and make sure they are up to date. In particular, please check that:

  • Titles clearly describe the Opportunity

  • Descriptions explain what volunteers will actually do

  • Dates, times, and locations are accurate

  • Any requirements (age, skills, background checks) are clearly listed

If you would prefer that your Opportunities not appear to Volunteer Link volunteers, you can hide them in the Promotions and Sharing section of each Opportunity, or toggle off “I’m seeking new volunteers” on your Program’s Edit page.

Thank you for helping keep our site ready for new volunteers!
