Heads up! This article is intended for Site Managers.

By the end of this article, you will be able to:

  • Understand when to use App Messaging vs. Email Blasts

  • Confirm volunteer eligibility for receiving app messages

  • Send a push notification through the Causer App

What Is App Messaging?

App Messaging lets you send short, push-style notifications directly to volunteers who use the Causer App. This is ideal for:

  • Urgent updates

  • Last-minute changes

  • Time-sensitive reminders

Volunteers receive the message as a notification on their phone and can tap it to open the Causer App.

Before You Begin

Volunteers must:

  • Have the Causer App installed

  • Have notifications enabled in their phone settings

If either requirement is not met, the message will not be delivered.

How to Send an App Message

  1. Go to Communication > App Messaging.

  2. (Optional) Add filters to target a specific group of volunteers.

    • By default, filters only include volunteers who have the app installed and notifications turned on.

  3. Enter a Message Title.

  4. Write your Message (up to 110 characters).

    • Keep messages short and alert-style.

    • For longer or detailed messages, use Email Blasts instead.

  5. Click Send Message.

The message is delivered immediately to the volunteer’s phone. When they click the message, it takes them to the Causer App. To learn more about the Causer App, please see The Causer App: Site Managers.
