❖ Heads up! This article is intended for student volunteer user group members in a Service Learning Module (SLM) User Group. Not all sites have SLM enabled.

By the end of this article, you will be able to:

  • View your submitted hours and progress toward course goals.

  • Edit or add volunteer hours.

  • Export hours or generate a volunteer résumé.

  • Access reports for your course (user group).

A Note on Terminology

The default term for a course on Connect sites is SLM User Group. Your site may use different terms for both SLM and user groups.

Similarly, default terms like need and agency may appear as opportunity and organization, or something similar. Screens on your site may look slightly different than those shown in this article.

SLM User Groups

The SLM User Groups page shows your courses and provides a visual overview of your progress:

  • Bar chart: Submitted hours vs. remaining hours

  • Donut chart: Percent complete toward your course goals

  • Table: Courses, hours submitted, and percent complete

Access your SLM User Groups area:

  1. Log in to your Connect site.

  2. From your profile menu, select SLM User Groups.

Notes:

  • The table includes both pending and approved hours.

  • By default, the table shows courses from the most recent academic period. To view a different period, select it from the Block dropdown and click Go.

Viewing and Editing Your Hours from SLM User Groups

To see details for a course:

  1. Click the course (user group) in the table.

  2. You’ll see a list of all your hour entries for that course.

From here, you can:

  • Add hours: Click Add Hours.

  • Edit hours: Click the Edit (pencil) icon for hours that are still pending.

  • View need details: Click the need title.

Important: Approved hours cannot be edited. To change approved hours, contact your instructor or agency manager.

Export Hours

To export your volunteer hours to a spreadsheet:

  1. Log in and select Track Hours from your profile dropdown.

  2. The Track Hours page shows your submitted volunteer hours for the past month. Adjust the date range if needed and click Go.

  3. Select the hours to export (use the checkboxes).

  4. Click Export Hours.

Volunteer Résumé

Your volunteer résumé provides a snapshot of your volunteer engagement:

  • Graphs showing activity by month and interest

  • Table listing all volunteer hours, including pending hours

To access your résumé:

  1. Log in to your Connect site and go to your Volunteer Dashboard.

  2. Under the Hours by Interest chart, click Volunteer Resume.

Note: Some sites may use a different term for “résumé.”

User Group Report

The User Group Report shows volunteer activity for your course as a whole. It includes:

  • Charts of activity by month and interest

  • Needs and agencies associated with the course

To access your User Group Report:

  1. Log in to your Connect site and select My User Groups from the profile menu.

  2. In the table of user groups, click View Report under the Reporting heading.

  3. To generate a PDF, click Export as PDF.
