Inspiration for creating Programs for Amplify Site Managers

To post volunteer Opportunities on your site, you’ll first need to create at least one Program. Think of a Program as the container that organizes your Opportunities—by location, task, department, or whatever best fits your workflow.

The setup is flexible. Here are a few ways to structure your Programs to spark ideas:

Location-Specific

If you host Opportunities at more than one location, Programs can help keep things organized.

For example, imagine you run soup kitchens in three neighboring cities. You could create a Program for each city, allowing each one to post and manage its own Opportunities.

In this setup, it’s common to name each Program after its city or site—like “Haven Soup Kitchen – Richmond,” “Haven Soup Kitchen – Ashland,” and so on.

Task-Specific

Programs can also be organized by type of work or project focus.

For instance, you might have one Program dedicated to back-to-school efforts—like backpack stuffing events—and another focused on tutoring services. This approach works well if you want to separate different initiatives that may run at the same time or require different volunteer skills.

You can create as many Programs as you need to fit your organization’s structure. Each Program can have its own Program Manager to oversee scheduling, reporting, and communication.

You may see or hear Program Managers referred to as Advanced Program Managers—it’s the same user role.

You can also assign Program Facilitators to support your managers. Facilitators can’t manage a Program directly, but they can:

  • Review volunteer hours, Opportunities, and schedules

  • Help with reporting

  • Serve as the point of contact for volunteers responding to Opportunities within that Program
