Onboarding 101 for Sustain Site Managers

❖ Heads up! This article is intended for Sustain Site Managers only.

When you log onto your site, you'll be guided through your onboarding journey through a series of guided walkthroughs. Onboarding is divided into 101 Onboarding and Advanced Onboarding.

Begin your guided walkthroughs by clicking on the Resource Center button at the bottom corner of each screen. You'll also find additional helpful resources here! This is what it looks like:

Steps to success!

We want you to be set up for success so we're including each step of the onboarding journey here. This will help you stay organized and on track. We've also highlighted how each step benefits you and your volunteer community.

Step 1: Programs and Opportunities

  1. Create your first Program

  2. Create your first Opportunity

Click View Site to see the volunteer perspective. Click on the Programs page and the Opportunities page to see what they look like from the volunteer perspective:

Step 2: Look and Feel

  1. Add site colors

  2. Add site banners for desktop and mobile devices

  3. Add a favicon and logo

  4. Create 1 to 3 Spotlights

  5. Add Images

Click View Site to see the volunteer perspective. Start by viewing your site banner at the top of your screen, and scroll down to see your site colors, Spotlights, and images:

Step 3: Collecting Volunteer Information

  1. Create your first Prerequisite (if your site has requirements volunteers must complete before responding to Opportunities)

  2. Add questions and steps to User Registration

Log out to view your site as a new volunteer. You can complete User Registration and your Prerequisites by signing up as a brand-new user. Check out this article for full steps for testing the user experience, or you can simply click Sign Up and follow the steps on your site!

Step 4: Basic Management Tools

  1. Learn how to approve pending volunteer hours

  2. Learn how to approve pending Prerequisite submissions

  3. Schedule volunteers for shifts

  4. Learn how to send an Email Blast to your site's users

You have now completed 101 Onboarding and you are ready to go live!
