β Heads up! This article is intended for Volunteers. Are you a volunteer looking for support with your volunteer account, or do you have questions about a specific site? See the How to Get Help with Your Volunteer Account section of the How to Find Your Organization's Site article for more information!
By the end of this article, you will be able to:
Identify when a volunteer Need or Opportunity has a waitlist
Add yourself to a waitlist
Remove yourself from a waitlist if your availability changes
Overview
Some volunteer Needs or Opportunities have a maximum number of volunteers allowed. When that limit is reached, the site may enable a waitlist so additional volunteers can sign up if a spot becomes available.
If you join a waitlist, you will be notified if space opens for that opportunity.
Identifying Waitlisted Opportunities
A waitlist may be available when a Need or Opportunity has reached its volunteer limit.
You can tell a waitlist is enabled when:
Waitlist appears in place of the Respond button for a Need or Opportunity
Full appears in place of Respond, and Waitlist appears under the Respond column for opportunities with scheduled shifts
These indicators show that the opportunity is currently full, but you can still join the waitlist.
Adding Yourself to a Waitlist
To add yourself to a waitlist:
Go to Needs or Opportunities and select the one you want to be added to a waitlist for.
Click Waitlist under the Respond column.
After clicking Waitlist, the button changes to Added to Waitlist.
You have now been added to that waitlist.
You'll be notified via email if a spot becomes available for that Need or Opportunity. Please note that someone else on the waitlist may fill the Need or Opportunity, but you'll remain on the waitlist if this happens.
Removing Yourself from a Waitlist
If you change your mind or if something comes up, you can remove yourself from a waitlist at any time.
