Overview
You may be required to complete Prerequisite or Qualification requirements before volunteering.
If you're unsure about your status—especially if you're waiting for approval to respond to Opportunities—consider contacting the organization directly. See How to Get Help with Your Volunteer Account for more information.
ℹ️ So you know: Some sites use custom language. You may see:
Needs instead of Opportunities
Agencies instead of Programs
Getting Qualified
If the site you're using has requirements in place, you can submit your responses directly from your profile.
Click your initials or profile image in the top corner.
Select Prerequisites or Qualifications—the label depends on the site's custom language settings.
From here, submit any qualifications that you have listed under Incomplete Qualifications.
Be sure to click Submit Qualifications to save your changes!
Reviewing Submissions
To review or update your Prerequisites or Qualifications, go to your profile. From there, you can:
Check the status of each item
View expiration dates (if applicable)
Edit or update responses when allowed
If a Prerequisite or Qualification can be updated, a pencil icon appears under Options for you to edit it.
Some Prerequisites or Qualifications may require you to:
Upload a file
Answer a question
Sign a waiver
Once updated, a Qualification may show a pending status until it’s reviewed and approved by a site manager.
In some cases, you may be asked to complete a background check through a third-party site as part of the Qualification process.
