Overview
Some sites may require you to electronically sign a waiver before viewing or responding to a posted Need or Opportunity. These waivers, along with Prerequisites or Qualifications, help ensure you are prepared and meet any requirements to participate.
You may encounter them:
Before you can view or respond to a Need/Opportunity
When responding to a Need/Opportunity with a requirement
In the My Prerequisites or My Qualifications area
When checking in through the Check-In Kiosk
You can sign an eWaiver in the Check-In Kiosk, but you cannot submit other Prerequisites or Qualifications there.
ℹ️ So you know: Some sites use custom language. You may see:
Needs instead of Opportunities
Agencies instead of Programs
Adult and Minor Waivers Explained
If a site provides separate waivers for adults and minors, the system uses your birth date to determine which version to show.
If your birth date is not on file, you will be prompted to enter it
Based on your age, you will be directed to the appropriate waiver
If you are over 18:
You are directed to the adult waiver
After signing, you are returned to the Need/Opportunity page
If you are under 18:
You are prompted to enter a parent or guardian’s name and email address
After submitting this information:
You are redirected to sign your portion of the waiver
Your parent or guardian receives an email to sign their portion
Once both signatures are completed, you can access and respond to the Need/Opportunity.
Some waivers require a Site Manager's review. If you do not have access after signing, your waiver may still be pending approval.
Signature-related issues may occur, such as missing signatures or incomplete steps. If this happens:
Click Complete Signing
Confirm the submission when prompted
Ensure all required steps are completed
How Minors Access and Complete Waivers
Minors can access waivers in two ways:
From the My Qualifications area in their profile
By clicking Sign Waiver on a Need posting
To complete a waiver:
Enter your birth date (if not already on file) when prompted (usually when responding to a Need or Opportunity with the waiver attached)
Provide your parent or guardian’s name and email address
After submitting this information:
You can review and sign your portion of the waiver
Your parent or guardian receives a link to sign their portion
Once the parent or guardian submits the waiver:
The Need becomes accessible
You can proceed to respond
Important
Some sites require manager approval before access is granted.
If access or signing issues occur:
Please contact a manager or the site you're a registered volunteer on for assistance.
The following parent or guardian information is collected:
First and last name
Email address
Waiver signatures
Timestamp (date and time signed)
Browser
IP address
Parents or guardians are not required to create an account to sign the waiver. Their information is protected.
Complete a Waiver from Your Profile
If you have incomplete Qualifications, you can complete them—including waivers—from your profile.
Click your profile image or initials in the top menu.
Select Prerequisites or Qualifications.
Review available items.
Open the My Prerequisites or My Qualifications area.
Click the link next to Click to sign.
Enter your birth date (if not on file).
If you are a minor, you will be prompted to enter a parent or guardian’s email.
Click Continue to proceed or Decline to cancel.
If you decline, you will not be qualified for related Needs/Opportunities
Review the waiver and complete required fields (signature, initials, date).
Click Complete Signing.
Confirm your submission when prompted.
Depending on the site’s approval settings, you may need to wait for a manager to approve your submission before responding to a Need/Opportunity.
You can return to the My Prerequisites or My Qualifications area at any time to check your status.
Responding to a Need/Opportunity with Requirements
If a Need/Opportunity includes a required Prerequisite, Qualification, or waiver:
You will be prompted to complete it when clicking Respond
The signing process is the same as completing it from your profile
Enter your birth date
Complete required fields
Submit your signature
